Two months into the year so far and it has proved to be a lovely start. It has been a busy few months mainly running ceramic courses and organising MUDFest ahead of the busy spring and summer season of fairs and festivals. I am having to reduce my regular classes, those on a Saturday and switch to one off workshops to allow me to fit everything into the calendar.
It’s been such a privilege and an honour to work with art community projects in the Furness area, so rewarding. Watching people develop their skills along their clay journey and try new ideas and techniques is great to witness. The joy on peoples faces when they pick up their makes after the final process of firing them is so uplifting. I tell people I get so much from sharing my skills and knowledge with others and it’s so true.
I have a joint solo exhibition with a fellow ceramicist this year so my main focus of 2025 is making work for the Dock Museum this autumn rather than applying for the summer shows. Last year I was driving up and down the country from one show to the next but this year I have been more selective in my approach. This will allow me to concentrate on delivering MUDFest in May and the Dock Museum exhibition later in the year.
This year I will be taking part in the following events:
Fusion Art Fair, Harrogate 7-9 March
MUDFest, Ulverston 17-18 May
Potfest in the Pens, Penrith 24-26 May
Pofest SW, Shaftesbury 4-6 July
I’m slightly nervous for the Dock Museum as it’s such a large space to fill and there is nowhere to hide. But I’m sure everything will work out just fine, let’s hoping anyway.
